Nancy Schweitzer grew up in Billings, Montana, the fourth daughter of Bill and Betty Lou Hupp. Nancy graduated with honors from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany. While there, she met her husband Governor Brian Schweitzer.
After they were married Nancy joined Brian in Saudi Arabia for four years. She returned to Whitefish, Montana to have their first son, Benjamin in 1986. Mikhail and Katrina followed.
Nancy has volunteered in the children’s schools and church youth classes for many years and now enjoys volunteering her time and energy for Montana.
Her main focus is the Governor and First Lady’s Math and Science Initiative. The initiative works to encourage our schools and businesses to champion science, technology and engineering to better prepare the next generation to be leaders in a global economy. Nancy is proud to also advocate reading and learning through the Scholastic’s Read for 2007: Read for Life program.
